What is meant by an "apostate" church? |
First let’s define "apostate." This word means "defection." So a Christian or church that is living in apostasy is basically one that has defected from or deserted Christ and what they believe. So basically they are "dead" spiritually, as the church in Sardis (Revelation 3:1-6). An apostate would be one that no longer believes in a living God and His power to bring salvation and hope into the lives of others. So not only has this one lost hope for themselves, but for the world around them as well. Resource: |
