Should I be Baptized Again If I Wasn't Totally Immersed the First Time?

The most important point in a previous Water Baptism is that you understood what you were a believer and that you were old enough to understand that you were being obedient to Jesus’ command. In the "Declaration of Faith" of our particular denomination (Foursquare) it explains:

"We believe that water baptism in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, according to the command of our Lord, is a blessed outward sign of an inward work, a beautiful and solemn emblem reminding us that even as our Lord died upon the cross of Calvary so we reckon ourselves now dead indeed unto sin, and the old nature nailed to the tree with Him; and that even as He was taken down from the tree and buried, so we are buried with Him by baptism into His death; that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we should walk in newness of life."

The Hayford’s Bible Handbook has the following to say about "Baptism:"

The verb, baptizo, means to dip, immerse. The noun, baptisma, emphasizes the result of the act rather than the act itself. In Christian baptism the stress is on the baptized person’s identification with Christ in death, burial, and resurrection. The word describes the experience of a convert from initial acceptance of Christ to initiation into the Christian community.

Unless you feel specifically led by the Lord to be baptized again (by immersion), don’t worry. The Lord looks on your heart, and if you were walking in obedience and desiring to please your Lord and publicly acknowledge your belief in Him by the form of baptism you chose, that’s fine. Continue to walk in obedience to the directives of your Lord Jesus and not fear (II Timothy 1:7).
