What are God’s promises for widows?

God has many wonderful promises for widows. Isaiah 54:4,5 says: "Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame; for you will forget the shame of your youth, and will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore. For your Maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is His name; and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth." In the title "husband," God is disclosing how deeply He loves His people and how effectively He cares for us.

Psalms 68:5 and 146:9 show that God watches over, relieves, and defends widows. What a great comfort! Then in Proverbs 18:24 speaks of God when it says, "There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." Then in Hebrews 13:5 God says He will never leave us or forsake us.
