What are we to do with visions we believe we receive from the Lord?

Many times when the Lord gives us a vision or insight into something, He wants us to ponder it for a time as Mary did in Luke chapter 2. She didn't tell everyone about what the angel Gabriel had told her. She allowed God to confirm and affirm it. Often the Lord's direction and timing is not what ours would be. In the case of Jesus' raising Lazarus from the dead in John 11, everyone thought that Jesus should have gone sooner so that Lazarus would never have died. But God's timing was perfect, and a wonderful miracle was performed.

I Thessalonians 5:12 speaks of "...knowing those who labor among us...", which would be submitting the visions we have to those the Lord has placed in spiritual authority over us (pastor, elders, etc.). Our recommendation would be that if you feel you need to share this vision, or desire possible further clarification, submit it to your local pastor and/or elders. They are responsible before God to lead and guide you.

"Brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus,
by a new and living way, which He consecrated for us..."
