What does the Bible says about the Trinity? |
Trying to understand the Trinity falls in line with trying to understand God, which will always be beyond our full comprehension. The Father creates; the Son redeems, and the Holy Spirit sanctifies--primarily, but they all have something to do with each role. Isaiah 48:16 says, "I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord God, and His Spirit, hath sent Me." The speaker in this verse is obviously God, and yet He says He has been sent both by the Lord God (that is, the Father) and by His Spirit (that is, the Holy Spirit). In the New Testament (John 15:26) Jesus says, "But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of Truth, which proceedeth from the Father, He shall testify of Me." I have listed several scriptures that show The Father to be God, Jesus Christ to be God, and the Holy Spirit to be God (I Corinthians 8:6; John 1:1; 4:24; 10:30; II Peter 1:21). I John 5:7 says, "For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one." Resources: |
