What are a Pastor’s responsibilities if someone leaves their church?

There are places in scripture where it talks of the shepherd (the Pastor), how his sheep "know" his voice (John 10:4); and how he’ll leave the 99 to go after the one (Matthew 18:12). So the question is really about the leaving. Did the people leave to go to another church? Did they leave because they were mad at the Pastor or the church in some way? Did they leave the Lord? These may all have a different response. Sometimes people just feel "called" to another place; whether that comes because of dissatisfaction where they are, or is really God moving them is between them and the Lord. If they are leaving because they are mad or dissatisfied, it is important for there to be an opportunity for reconciliation and forgiveness; but that may not necessarily mean they will return. Are they straying from the Lord (which I believe is the picture of the "man" going after the 1 and leaving the 99)? If so, it is very important not only for the Pastor, but for concerned brothers and sisters in Christ to seek out to restore that one to the faith (Galatians 6:1).
