What does the Bible say about "living together" outside of wedlock?

The answer can be summed up in one word -- disobedience. The Bible clearly teaches God’s objections to fornication (illicit sexual intercourse) - See: Romans 1:28; I Corinthians 6:13, 18; 7:2; 10:8; II Corinthians 12:21; Galatians 5:19-21; Ephesians 5:3. Why does God object? Because He created us and knows what is best for us. He knows that being in an intimate relationship with someone without the commitment will be difficult on us spiritually, as well as emotionally and physically.

In the very least, according to I Thessalonians 5:22, we are to "Abstain from every appearance of evil." So these types of living situations are harmful to the message of Christ. I Corinthians 6:12-20 also deals with this point.

God’s will for our lives is outlined in Jeremiah 29:11, "My thoughts toward you, says the Lord, are thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." Luke 12:32 says, "Fear not, little flock, for it is your

Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom." In the Book of Joshua we are instructed to live according to God’s Word, and as we do, "...for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.... Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
