| What Is The Final Destiny Of Family Pets? | ||||||
Concerning the final resting place of family pets, the Scripture is silent on this matter. So any speculation on this subject, would be just that--speculation. One insight might be that human beings are created in God's image (Genesis 1:27) with a spirit and eternal destiny. Animals are not mentioned in this manner, although there are many scriptures where God shows care for animals (Exodus 9:19; Deuteronomy 25:4; II Samuel 12:1-13). Proverbs 12:10 says: A righteous man regards the life of his animal, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel." The study notes from The Spirit-Filled Life Bible (of which Pastor Hayford served as General Editor) under this verse says, "A righteous man is sensitive enough to care about the welfare of animals (a rare concern in that era), but a wicked man, even when sensitive, is still cruel (to human beings)." Isaiah 11:6-9 also speaks of animals in a calm, united state. This is a picture of conditions of a redeemed and recreated earth during the millennium. But there is no specific comment about family pets. |
