| What Does
The Bible Say About The Elderly And Old Age? |
|||||||
The Scriptures talk of old age as being a "splendor" (Proverbs 20:29), and that we are to honor these (Leviticus 19:32). Gods judgment was visited upon Israel by an evil nation in Deuteronomy 28:50 and Isaiah 47:6, and one of the characteristics of these evil nations were, "...one that does not respect the elderly, nor show favor to the young..." and they "...laid a heavy yoke on the elderly." Job 12:12 says, "Wisdom is with aged men, and with length of days, understanding." Psalm 92:13 and 14 says, "Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing." |
