I BELIEVE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT
By
Jack W. Hayford
I believe in the Holy Spirit, revealed in Scripture
as personal and knowable; one being with the Father and the Son,
and with them almighty, all-knowing, and ever present.
Because I believe this, I will worship and welcome Him in all
aspects and affairs of my life. His almightiness has been promised
to instruct and teach me, and His constant presence
has been
promised to glorify the Lord Jesus in me and to bear witness to
the Lord Jesus thorough me.
I believe in the Holy Spirit of love, who baptizes believers into
the Body of Christ and through whose presence Gods love is
poured forth into our hearts. It is His convincing work that produces
new life within, His indwelling that produces fruitfulness, and
His guiding that directs obedience to the Fathers Word.
Because I believe this, I entertain the Holy Spirits presence
in my heart. As I began in the Spirit, so shall I walk in the newness
of life by His working in me. I will respect and respond to Him
as He continually teaches me to turn from sin, as He promotes true
holiness within me, and as He develops His promised fruit in my
character.
I believe in the Holy Spirit of power, by whom the Father anointed
Jesus ministry and with whom Jesus Himself baptizes all who
will receive His enduement of ability. By this empowering, the works,
which Christ did, we may do also, with expectation of even greater
things through the gifts the Holy Spirit distributes through us
who believe in the Lord Jesus.
Because I believe this, I openly acknowledge my desire and express
my request that Christ my Lord overflow my life with the promised
Spirit from on high. Without presumption, I believe that I shall
see the manifest fullness of Jesus love and power demonstrated
through my life. I believe I will receive daily evidence of His
grace and regular evidence of Christs miracle life as I employ
the gifts the Holy Spirit affords.
With the Spirit of these truths graciously available to
me, I will bow in humble submission to His authority, grow in tender
sensitivity to His love, and offer myself in surrender to the workings
of His power.
